The Stevenage School Sports Partnership was established in September 2003 and was hosted within Marriotts Sports College in Stevenage.

As a result of the Comprehensive Spending Review in October 2010 the government announced an end to central funding for SSPs. However, after some very strong public opinion a re-think was announced and in February 2011 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Deparment of Health (DoH) announced £24 million of funding to pay for 450 new roles, to work three days a week, as School Games Organisers...
